Aldershot Town were founded on 25 March 1992, following the demise of the town's previous league club, Aldershot FC.

Successive Promotions

The club began competing in the Isthmian League Division Three (five divisions below Football League Two) and were champions in their first season by an 18 point margin.

A further promotion followed in 1993-94 and the following year only goal difference prevented a third successive promotion.

After narrowly missing out during the next two seasons, the club finally won promotion to the Isthmian League Premier Division in 1997-98.

Promotion to the Conference

March 2002 saw the arrival of Terry Brown as manager and under his leadership The Shots won the Isthmian Premier and with it promotion to the Conference at the fifth time of asking.

The following season saw them reach the Conference play-off final before losing to Shrewsbury Town via a penalty shoot-out.

Pro Shots

In the lead up to the 2004-2005 season the club made the decision to turn professional, and for the first time since March 1992 the town of Aldershot had a professional football team.

They again reached the play-offs that year but again lost out in a penalty shoot out - this time against Carlisle.

Having come so close, the next two seasons were disappointing ones for the club. 2005-06 saw them struggle to 13th in the table, and they followed that up with a 9th place finish - 13 points off the playoff places.

After the resignation of Terry Brown and a brief caretaker spell by Martin Kuhl, Gary Waddock was appointed as the new manager on 17 May 2007.

Record Breaking Season

Waddock guided the team to a Conference "double" of League and League Cup, as the Shots finished the season with 101 points from 46 games - a Conference record.
