Chelsea had an early chance for revenge after their humiliating 4-0 defeat in that year's FA Cup final. But United edged this Boxing Day thriller with goals from Cantona, Hughes and McClair canceling out strikes for Chelsea by Eddie Newton and John Spencer.

Scholes set United on their way to a comfortable away win with a goal in the opening 10 minutes, before adding a second. United old boy Mark Hughes pulled one back for Chelsea, but late strikes from Giggs and Brian McClair saw United home, even if the score did slightly flatter them.

Chelsea have a better record at Old Trafford than any other club in England, and in this encounter they took the lead through a Henning Berg own goal.

Scholes put United back on terms before Mark Hughes restored Chelsea's lead. It looked like the Blues were on their way to another 3 point haul but four minutes from time United super-sub Solskjaer struck to claim a point in this exciting 2-2 draw.

FA Cup Third Round - January, 1998

The score-line only tells half the story as Chelsea were comprehensively outplayed in front of their own supporters. Two goals apiece from Beckham and Andy Cole and one from Teddy Sheringham put United 5-0 up with 15 minutes remaining.

A late rally from the Blues saw them reply through Graeme Le Saux before two goals from Gianluca Vialli helped to restore some respectability to the score-line. But make no mistake - this was a drubbing.

Manchester United arrived at Stamford Bridge in October 1999 as Premier League and European champions but were brought down to earth by this 5-star performance from Chelsea.

Gustavo Poyet got the ball rolling with the opener after just 60 seconds, before misfiring striker Chris Sutton got the second - his only league goal for Chelsea.

Another effort from Poyet, an own goal from Henning Berg and a late strike by Jody Morris completed the scoring in a humiliating defeat for United.

Premier League - April, 2000

Another Old Trafford thriller saw Dwight Yorke put United into a 10th-minute lead before goals from Dan Petrescu and Gianfranco Zola turned the game in Chelsea's favour.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer equalized three minutes later and Yorke popped up to claim his second in the 69th minute, as the Blues left Manchester empty handed.

Premier League - August, 2000

A Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink thunderbolt got Chelsea off to a flyer at Old Trafford, but goals from Paul Scholes, Teddy Sheringham and David Beckham saw United go into the break 3-1 up.

Chelsea came out fighting in the second-half and a brace from Tore Andre Flo gave them a share of the spoils.

A four-goal thriller at the Bridge saw Chelsea take an early lead through William Gallas. David Beckham got United back on terms midway through the first-half, before Zenden restored the Blues lead just before the break.

The second half of an entertaining match saw excellent end-to-end football, with the reliable Ryan Giggs popping up with the equalizer to earn United a point.

Chelsea has just been crowned Premier League champions and the United players sportingly formed a guard of honour to clap them onto the field. Chelsea fielded a weakened side and it showed when Ruud van Nistelrooy put United in front after seven minutes.

Even with nothing to play for The Blues responded in style - Tiago getting them level with an absolute screamer, before Eidur Gudjohnsen and Joe Cole put the seal on a comprehensive win.

Premier League - April, 2006

Chelsea and United have dominated the title race in recent years and this season was no different. The Blues needed just a draw to be sure of retaining their Premier League crown but responded with a crushing 3-0 victory.

The game is perhaps best remembered for the broken metatarsal suffered by Wayne Rooney on the eve of the 2006 World Cup finals, but that does a disservice to this dominant Chelsea performance. Goals from Gallas and Carvalho sandwiched a sublime individual effort from Joe Cole as Chelsea strolled it.
