Champions League Round-up, Wednesday 3 November

Chelsea cruised into the Champions League last 16 with a convincing 4-1 win over Spartak Moscow.

Branislav Ivanovic, who scored the winner against Blackburn at the weekend, was again the hero with a second-half brace. Goals by Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba completed the rout.

In the group's other game, Marseille recorded the biggest away win in Champions League history with a comprehensive 7-0 thrashing of MSK Zilina.

Marseille were ahead after just 12 minutes, and led 4-0 at the break through Andre-Pierre Gignac (2), Gabriel Heinze and Loic Remy.

The goals continued to flow in the second half, Gignac completed his hat-trick, while Lucho got two to complete the humiliation of the hapless Slovakians.

It was also an unhappy night for Arsenal as Theo Walcott's opener was cancelled out by a Craig Eastmond own goal, before Gunners old boy Eduardo won it for Shaktar with a goal just before half-time.

Partizan Belgrade suffered a fourth straight defeat, losing 1-0 at home to Braga, and are out of the Champions League.

Real Madrid left it late to grab a point against Milan and seal a place in the next round. Real took the lead through Gonzalo Higuain just before half-time, but an Inzaghi brace gave Milan the lead before substitute Pedro Leon grabbed a dramatic late equalizer.

Auxerre are not yet out of contention in Group G after Steven Langli's late goal clinched a 2-1 home win over Ajax.

Bayern Munich maintained their 100 per cent record as a Mario Gomez hat-trick saw them canter to a 4-0 away win against CFR Cluj in Group E.

Roma look the most likely to to join Bayern in the next round after edging a five-goal thriller 3-2 against Basel in Switzerland.

Jeremy Menez's put Roma ahead on 16 minutes and Francesco Totti doubled their advantage 10 minutes later.

Basel pulled a goal back through Alexander Frei on 69 minutes before substitute Leandro Greco got Roma's third on 76 minutes. Basel struck again through Xherdan Shaqiri on 83 minutes, but the Italians held out for the win.
