The international break has been a costly one for Spurs with both Michael Dawson and Jermain Defoe picking up long-term injuries.

Defoe suffered ankle ligaments during England’s win over Switzerland and faces six weeks on the sidelines.

The striker is likely to miss Tottenham’s first three Champions League games as well as England's next qualifier against Montenegro.

Dawson meanwhile, is out for two months after damaging knee and ankle ligaments against Bulgaria on Friday.
