Hillsborough is the home of Sheffield Wednesday F.C. who have played at the ground since it opened on 2 September 1899.
It is located in the Sheffield suburb of Owlerton but takes its name from the parlimentry constituency in which it lies.
Today it is a 39,814 capacity all-seater stadium, the largest in Sheffield.
It has two separate two tiered stands and two single tiered stands, all of which are covered. Only one corner of the ground is filled, between the West and North Stands.
Away supporters are accommodated in the West stand.
Hillsborough is a historic old ground which has hosted 27 FA Cup semi-finals but is perhaps best remembered for one of the worst sporting tragedies of all time, when 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death during a FA Cup semi-final match on 15 April 1989.
