Mascherano Refuses to Play for Liverpool

Any lingering hopes Liverpool had of keeping Argentine captain Javier Mascherano were blown away last night when the player refused to play in the match against Manchester City. Amid accussations that Barcelona are negotiating with the player without their consent, Liverpool have turned down a £16m offer from the Catalan giants. But it seems inevitable that Mascherano will leave, and Liverpool are weighing up Real Madrid's Mahmadou Diarra as a replacement. |
