![]() Milton Keynes Dons have a unique history in English football. In 2000, Peter Winkelman bought Wimbledon FC and, in September 2000, gained permission to relocate the club. Relocation to Milton KeynesIn 2003, Wimbledon moved into the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes, and the following year, Winkleman announced that the club was to be renamed Milton Keynes Dons and adopt a new badge and colours, effectively severing all ties with the old club. In 2006, the club was relegated to the fourth tier of the Football League (League Two), and the following year reached the promotion play-offs but failed to gain promotion. Severing Ties with WimbledonIn 2007, the club agreed to transfer Wimbledon FC's trophies to the newly formed AFC Wimbledon, and to relinquish all claims to Wimbledon's history and heritage. Move to Stadium MKMK Dons moved to the new 22, 000 seater Stadium: MK in July 2007. The Dons were League Two champions in 2008, and in the same year won the Football League Trophy, beating Grimsby Town 2-0 at Wembley. In 2009, they made the play-offs but were eliminated by eventual winners Scunthorpe United. Click on the icons below for more on MK Dons;
