Molineux has been the home ground of Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. since 1889, when the club rented the ground from Northampton Brewery (the name Molineux derives from a local merchant, Benjamin Molineux, who once owned the land).
The stadium is located within a mile of the Wolverhampton city centre, and is a prominent feature of the skyline.
There are four stands, each named after a former Wolves great - the Steve Bull Stand, the Jack Harris Stand, the Stan Cullis Stand and the Billy Wright Stand.
There are also statues to Billy Wright, who made 105 appearances for England, 90 of them as captain, and to Stan Cullis, former player, captain and manager who led the team during their most successful era.
The total seated capacity of the ground is approximately 28,525.
In 2008, Chairman Steve Morgan revealed tentative plans to redevelop the stadium in order to bring the stands closer to the pitch. This would also increase the capacity to 40,000.
