One Club Players
The days of one club players are over. There's no loyalty in football anymore. Or so we are told.
Well, perhaps the likes of Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher, local servants all, would beg to differ.

Nat Lofthouse (Bolton Wanderers), 503 appearances
Lofthouse was an imposing centre forward who played 503 games for Bolton Wanderers between 1946 and 1960. He also scored a remarkable 30 goals in just 33 England appearances.
John Angus (Burnley FC), 521 appearances
John Angus played his entire career, stretching from 1956 to 1972, at Turf Moor. He was a member of Burnley's title winning side of 1961.
Gary Kelly (Leeds United), 531 appearances
The Republic of Ireland international made 531 appearances between 1991 and 2007, either at right-back or in midfield.
Keith Peacock (Charlton Athletic), 532 appearances
Made 532 Charlton appearances between 1962 and 1979, scoring 92 goals. He later returned to the club as assistant manager to Alan Curbishley. Peacock has the distinction of being the first substitute ever used in the English Football League.
Brian Labone (Everton), 534 appearances
During 534 appearances for Everton Labone scored only two goals, and was booked only twice. Went on to captain the club and won two League titles and an FA Cup.
Paul Madeley (Leeds United), 536 appearances
The ultimate utility player, Madeley played every position on the pitch except goalkeeper. He once famously signed a blank contract with Leeds and informed manager Jimmy Armfield, "You fill in the details. I just want to play for Leeds".
Matthew Le Tissier (Southampton), 540 appearances
An exceptionally talented player, Le Tissier stayed loyal to Saints despite considerable interest from bigger clubs. He is the club's second-highest goal scorer of all time (behind Mick Channon).
Billy Wright (Wolverhampton Wanderers), 541 appearances
Wolves legend who spent his entire career, spanning 20 years, at the club winning three league titles and an FA Cup. Wright was also the first player footballer to earn more than 100 international caps, and captained England a record 90 times.
Stuart Taylor (Bristol Rovers), 546 appearances
Central defender who played 546 games for Rovers during a fifteen-year career. A one club player who still holds the club's appearances record.
Ken Coote (Brentford), 559 appearances
A defender who made a record 559 appearances for the Bees. Played for the representative London XI in the 1958 Fairs Cup.
Alan Hodgkinson (Sheffield United), 576 appearances
Goalkeeper who appeared 576 times for United between 1954 and 1971. Unusually small for a keeper at just 5 foot 9, he also won 5 England caps. Awarded an MBE in 2008.
Ronnie Clayton (Blackburn Rovers), 581 appearances
Midfielder who made 581 appearances for Blackburn between 1951 and 1969, scoring 15 goals. Also earned 35 England caps, 5 as captain.
Jimmy Armfield (Blackpool), 627 appearances
Played 627 games for Blackpool between 1954 and 1971, captaining the team for over a decade. A member of England's 1966 World Cup winning squad but missed the tournament through injury. Later went into management with Bolton Wanderers and Leeds United.
Trevor Brooking (West Ham), 635 appearances
Sir Trevor made 635 appearances for West Ham United between 1967-1984, winning the FA Cup twice. Has since enjoyed a distinguished career as a football administrator.
Tony Adams (Arsenal), 672 appearances
Legendary Arsenal skipper who won four League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. Has since enjoyed a less than successful managerial career.
Bill Foulkes (Manchester United), 679 appearances
Centre Back who racked up 679 appearances for Manchester United between 1952 and 1970. In this time he won four League titles, one FA Cup and the European Cup. Foulkes was a survivor of the Munich air disaster in 1958.
Joe Shaw (Sheffield United), 714 appearances
Still Sheffield United's record holder for most appearances, having played 714 games between 1945 and 1966. Later managed York City and Chesterfield.
John McDermott (Grimsby Town), 754 appearances
McDermott was a one club player who spent his entire career at Grimsby Town, and still holds the club's all-time appearance record.
John Trollope (Swindon Town), 770 appearances
Left-back Trollope made 770 appearances for Swindon between 1960 and 1981. Still serving the club as youth team coach.
Jack Charlton (Leeds United), 773 appearances
A member of England's 1966 World Cup winning side, Charlton was a one-club man who made 773 appearances for Leeds United between 1952 and 1973. Later went into management and enjoyed some success managing the Republic of Ireland.
lan Knight (Portsmouth), 801 appearances
A one club player who holds the record for the most appearances for a single club by a goalkeeper. He is also the only player to have appeared for Portsmouth in all four divisions of the Football League.
Jimmy Dickinson (Portsmouth), 845 appearances
Dickinson made 845 appearances for Pompey between 1946 and 1965. He also earned 48 England caps, making him the club's most capped English international of all time. Never booked once on club or international duty.
