Chelsea moved five points clear at the top with a 2-0 win over Wolves. Although the Blues were far from their best, goals from Flourent Malouda and Salomon Kalou either side of half-time were enough to see off a battling Wanderers side. West Brom continued their impressive season as a 2-1, come-from-behind, win over Fulham lifted them into fourth place. Tottenham fought back from a goal down against Everton to rescue a point at White Hart Lane, Peter Crouch and Rafael van der Vaart combining for the equalizer. Richard Dunne's eighth Premier League own goal (a record for the division) gave Sunderland a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light, and condemned Gerard Houllier to his second defeat as Aston Villa manager. West Ham remained rooted to the foot of the table after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, Andy Carroll putting aside his off-field troubles to slot the winner. Elsewhere, Birmingham beat Blackpool 2-0 with goals from Liam Ridgewell and Nikola Zigic while Wigan and Bolton shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium. In Sunday's matches Manchester United travel to Stoke, Arsenal take an Man City at Eastlands, while Liverpool host Blackburn. |
