Spurs make dramatic late swoop for Van der Vaart

Harry Redknapp hopes to have pulled off a dramatic late swoop for Real Madrid's Rafael van der Vaart, but will have to wait and see if the paperwork went through in time. Tottenham were made aware of the availability of the midfielder late on transfer deadline day, after his proposed £18m move to Bayern Munich collapsed at the last minute. With the transfer window about to slam shut Redknapp had a knock-down £8m offer accepted, and will now have to sweat it out to see if the deal for the Dutch superstar was completed before the deadline. |
