St Andrew's is a 30,000 capacity all seater stadium which has been home to Birmingham City, since 1906.

In 1906 the club (then known as Small Heath) had outgrown its Muntz Street ground and was looking for a piece of land to build a new stadium. A director of the club found a vacant lot off Garrison Lane, Bordesley Green which he described as 'a wilderness of stagnant water and muddy slopes', on which the club subsequently obtained a 21 year lease.

Construction of the ground was completed in December 1906, at a total cost of £10,000, and the club played their first match there on 26 December 1906.

There were gradual improvements leading up to World War II but in 1943 the main stand was completely destroyed by fire.

After the war, the club set about rebuilding St Andrews. The construction of the Main Stand got underway in the early 1950s, and floodlights were used for the first time in October 1956.

During the 1950s and 1960s the Tilton Road and Kop were covered and a replica of the Main Stand was built at the Railway End.

The next major redevelopment began in 1994, with a 7,000 all-seater Tilton Road stand, and an additional 9,500 seats added to the Kop.

The New Railway Stand was officially opened in February 1999, and houses 9,500 spectators and the new dressing rooms.

The last remaining pre-1994 stand at St Andrew's has been earmarked for reconstruction since 2000, but this work has yet to begin.
