The Hawthorns is a 28,003 capacity football ground which has been home to West Bromwich Albion since its construction in 1900.

It is the sixth ground to be used by the club who enjoyed something of a nomadic existance during their early years. At an altitude of 551 feet (168 metres)

The Hawthorns also has the distinction of being the highest professional football ground in England.

The modern stadium has four main stands, namely the Halford's Lane Stand, Birmingham Road End, Smethwick End, and the East Stand.

Running along the western side of the pitch, the Halfords Lane Stand, was completed in 1981 and seats 5, 110. It houses the main TV cameras as well as the press and commentary area.

The Birmingham Road End, traditionally housed the core of the home support, although much of that support has migrated to the Smethwick End in recent years. Better known to supporters as Brummie Road, the stand was completed in 1995 and seats 8, 286.

Running behind the goal at the southern edge of the pitch, the Smethwick End houses the away supporters, along with the most vocal of the home support. It was completed in 1995 and has a capacity of 5, 816.

The East Stand replaced the old Rainbow Stand in 2001 and now houses the club's administration offices, club shop, ticket office and corporate suites.

The wings of the East Stand are known as the Woodman corner (named after the Woodman public house that stood there until 2004) and the Millennium Corner (adjacent to the Smethwick End). Return from The Hawthorns to West Bromwich Albion
