Tom Whittaker

by Patrick Laggan
(Newcastle upon Tyne)

He was known as Mr Football. He gave unswerving service to Arsenal football club. He was an innovator, helping develop the new art of physiotherapy for the club, successful trainer and successful manager and his record compares well to all other managers (Mr Wenger possibly being the exception). He had similar traits to Mr Wenger in being able to spot something in a player that others couldn't. Look at the extended career of Joe Mercer as an example.
I recommend Mr Tom Whittaker as a true Arsenal legend.
