It is the second oldest football ground in England, which is still in use (after Preston North End's Deepdale).

Turf Moor has a capacity of 22,546, all seated, split between four main stands - the James Hargreaves Stand, the Jimmy McIllroy Stand, the Bob Lord Stand, and the Cricket Field Stand.

  • The James Hargreaves Stand was opened on the 23rd April 1996 and replaced the famous Longside terrace. It is now the main stand at Turf Moor and runs the length of the pitch.
  • The Jimmy McIllroy Stand (formerly the Bee Hole End) was opened in September 1996. The upper tier is currently the family stand at Turf Moor.
  • The Bob Lord Stand opened in 1974 and was in paid for in part by the sale of Martin Dobson to Everton.

  • The Cricket Field Stand was opened in 1969, and houses away supporters.

In July 2007, Burnley revealed plans of a 20 million pound redevelopment of Turf Moor and the club's training facility at Gawthorpe Hall.
