After Chelsea and Arsenal's victories on Tuesday, Man United and Spurs made it 4 out of 4 for the English quartet in this round of Champions League matches.

We start in Group C, where substitute Javier Hernandez scored five minutes from time to seal a 1-0 win for Manchester United at the Mestalla.

Roberto Soldado had earlier missed an open goal for Valencia, and Edwin van der Sar had produced an outstanding second half save to deny Manuel Fernandes and keep United in it.

At Ibrox, Rangers picked up a valuable three points against Turkish side Bursaspor, Steven Naismith with the vital goal on 18 minutes.

In Group A, Spurs recorded a convincing 4-1 win, with Rafael Van der Vaart missing a penalty, scoring the opener and then being sent off.

Spurs benefited from three very generous penalty awards, the first missed by Van der Vaart, the second and third converted by Roman Pavlyuchenko.

In the other match in the group, Inter Milan crushed Werder Bremen 4-0 courtesy of a Samuel Eto'o hat-trick.

Barcelona were held to a draw in Russia as their match with Rubin Kazan ended 1-1. The Russians took the lead with a penalty on the half-hour mark, before David Villa levelled for Barca on 60 minutes, also from the spot.

The surprise leaders of Group D are FC Copenhagen after they claimed a comfortable 2-0 victory away to Panathinkaikos.

Lyon cruised to their second Group B win with a 3-1 away victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv, Michel Bastos getting a brace.

Schalke meanwhile, had to wait until 17 minutes from time before opening the scoring against Benfica in Gelsenkirchen. Late goals from Jefferson Farfan and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar gave the Germans a 2-0 win
